Philadelphia is in love with Campo's. What's not to love?
Founded in 1947 by Ambrose Campo (a decorated World War II hero) and his wife Rose, Campo's was originally a corner butcher shop and grocery in Southwest Philly. The Campo family lived directly above the shop and everyone pitched in to help run the family business.
In 1975, the couple's son Mike and his wife Denise took over and converted the place into a delicatessen, and began serving the fabulous steaks and hoagies for which Campo's is known today. 50 years later, Mike and Denise still run the place (which relocated to Old City in 2001), joined by the third and fourth generations of the Campo family.
The story of Campo's is one of love, family, tradition, and endless dedication to ensuring that every customer feels special and enjoys meals of the highest quality.
Campo's has been named Philadelphia magazine's "Best of Philly" and earned a top rating in Zagat's, and has also been featured on the Food Network.
Campo's shop, on Market Street between 2nd and 3rd, could not be more charming inside and out, and the sidewalk dining under shaded trees is a huge plus. It's within walking distance of the specialty stores of Old City, as well as the Historic Area and Penn's Landing. Perfecto.

Philly sports fans know that Campo's steaks are also available at Citizens Bank Park. They are the official cheesesteak of the Phillies and indeed have been named the second-best ballpark food in America. For a special treat, try The Heater - a unique cheesesteak featuring thin-sliced ribeye, jalapeño peppers, Buffalo hot wing sauce, and jalapeño cheddar, served on a Liscio's premium roll.
Campo's is also the official cheesesteak of the Flyers. The next time you take in a game at the Wells Fargo Center, try the Flyers Ice Steak - with Philadelphia cream cheese, fresh tomato, and hot pepper cheese.
