Two things feature prominently in Philly Willie's world - cheesesteaks and Philly sports. And no place attends to those items better than Chickie's & Pete's.

In 1977, Peter Ciarrocchi and his wife Henrietta (better known as "Chickie") purchased Wally's, a taproom on Robbins Avenue in northeast Philly's Mayfair section, and renamed it "Chickie's & Pete's." The place soon became a popular local seafood crab house. Before long the couple's enterprising young son, Pete Jr., joined the business. When Pete Sr. died in 1987, Chickie encouraged Pete Jr. to run with some of his business ideas, including his special recipe for crab seasoned fries.

Fast forward to 1998. Pete bought a run-down supermarket building on Packer Avenue near the stadium complex and converted it into a giant sports bar. The business was well on its way. Chickie's & Pete's trademarked their signature Crab Fries in 2007. Shortly after that, Pete became part owner of Philadelphia's Arena Football Team, the Soul, which played in 5 championship games and won 3 of them.

Today, Chickie's & Pete's is a great Philly institution. Crab Fries are of course available at every Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers game. SportsRadio WIP94 hosts several hours of live talk shows on Mondays at Chickie's & Pete's South Philly (Packer Avenue) location. ESPN has named Chickie's & Pete's the #1 sports bar on the East Coast. And Chickie's & Pete's now has nearly 20 locations, mostly in Philly, southeastern PA, and New Jersey, but also in Las Vegas, Reno, and (for some odd reason) Kansas City.

Seafood, crabs, and Crab Fries headline the menu of course, but this is a cheesesteak website, and we are here to report that Chickie's & Pete's steaks are excellent - classic beef, chicken, Buffalo chicken, and yes, lobster. Take your pick, grab a table, and cheer your team on.
