Glorious, glorious White House.

This place has been a shining beacon for nearly 80 years. Atlantic City has changed dramatically over that time, but White House lives on, the beloved home to which we return again and again, with quality on which we can always count.

The New Jersey Shore is Philly's summer playground, and we Philadelphians claim White House's amazing cheesesteak as one of our own.

White House was founded in 1946 by Anthony Basile (an ambitious young US Army Sergeant who had served in the Philippines during World War II) along with his aunt and uncle. The family's second generation still runs the place. It was featured in the 1980 Burt Lancaster film Atlantic City, and its customers have included US Presidents, heavyweight boxing champions and other famous pro athletes, nearly every last Miss America for decades, and countless entertainment superstars including the Beatles, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra (whose towel is prominently displayed on the wall even today).

"Perfect" cannot even describe how good White House's steaks and hoagies are. There must be a better word. Zerfect? Mmmmmerfect? The formula for success involves culinary expertise honed over 8 decades, as well as the very best ingredients - including fresh baked rolls delivered up to 10 (ten) times a day from local bakeries. Did we mention that a full sandwich is 2 feet in length?

Not surprisingly, there is usually a line out the door. The only way to avoid it might be to: (1) try your luck at an odd hour; (2) place a phone or online pickup order ahead of time (well ahead); or (3) visit White House's newer but less iconic location in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, about a mile and a half away.
