PHILLY PETE'S EATS
A TRUE GEM IN WARRINGTON
You could drive right past Philly Pete's Eats on Easton Pike in Warrington without giving it a second glance. From the outside, there is nothing that screams, "One of the best cheesesteaks around!"
But what matters is what is inside - and inside you will find one of the friendliest cheesesteak shops anywhere, backed by an astonishing 4.8-star Google rating and a team that has turned making great food into both an art and a calling.
Bucks County residents may remember this location as Slack's Hoagie Shack. Before taking over the restaurant themselves, Italo ("Pete") and Fran Gramigna were already the faces behind the counter, building relationships with customers one sandwich at a time. When the opportunity came to make the place their own, they did not simply change the sign outside. They built upon the reputation they had already earned.
Pete, Fran, and their crew proudly claim more than 200 years of combined cheesesteak-slinging experience. And after spending a few minutes here, you will believe it. The sandwiches are expertly prepared, the kitchen hums with confidence, and everything feels like it is in the hands of people who have spent a lifetime perfecting their craft.
However, experience alone isn't what makes Philly Pete's special. What truly sets this place apart is something that is much harder to find.
Heart.
Pete and Fran exude a genuine warmth that simply cannot be manufactured. They are not just serving customers - they are welcoming guests. Their enthusiasm for good food and their appreciation for the people who walk through the door are unmistakable.
And as it turns out, the food delivers in a very big way.
The classic cheesesteak is outstanding - everything you want it to be, with expertly grilled quality meat, perfectly melted cheese, and a roll that brings everything together beautifully. But adventurous eaters have plenty of other unique tempting options as well. The garlic bread cheesesteak adds another layer of rich, buttery flavor, while the bacon ranch cheesesteak proves that sometimes more really is more.
And don't overlook the fries - as good as any in Philly cheesesteakdom. As for beverages - how about some Kutztown cane sugar soda?
Then there's the décor.
Many area cheesesteak shops celebrate Philly sports, and rightly so. But walk inside Philly Pete's and you will quickly realize you are standing in something closer to a sports museum.
Displayed on the walls are remarkable pieces of sports history, including a Sixers #6 jersey signed by Dr. J, Kobe Bryant's Lower Merion High School basketball jersey, a picture of Eric Lindros in his Oshawa Generals junior hockey uniform, and an autographed photo of pitching legends Robin Roberts and Curt Simmons from the beloved 1950 Phillies "Whiz Kids." And get this - Philly Pete's also offers free sports trading cards that kids can take home as souvenirs.
Just one more reflection of the passion Pete and Fran have poured into every corner of their restaurant.
Will your travels take you through Warrington every day? Probably not. But if you find yourself anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and make the short detour.
Philly Pete's Eats is simply too good to miss.
