SUPER CURSE
SORRY ABOUT THAT, CHIEFS
The NFL season is about to start and fans everywhere have high hopes.
In Kansas City, Chiefs fans are gleefully anticipating their team's return to the Super Bowl to avenge last year's loss with a big win over the Eagles.
Sorry to disappoint you, guys, but don't bet on it.
Only once in the past 50 seasons has the losing Super Bowl team returned to win the Super Bowl the following year. That team was the 2018 New England Patriots, who rebounded from their loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LII to defeat the Rams in Super Bowl LIII.
World Series losers are similarly cursed - only 4 of the past 50 have returned to win the following year.
Same for Stanley Cup Finals losers - only 3 of the past 50 have returned to win the following year.
