PRECIOUS MEDALS
EAGLES RING VS. OLYMPIC GOLD
Which do you think is worth more - the Eagles' diamond-encrusted Super Bowl LIX ring, or a solid gold Olympic medal?
Each Eagles Super Bowl LIX ring cost an estimated $35,000-$50,000 to produce.
But we know for certain that the ring is worth much more as a piece of treasured sports memorabilia, because the one belonging to Laekin Vakalahi (an offensive lineman whose name is known only to true Eagles fans) sold at auction last year for $124,440.
The price of gold has skyrocketed, and a solid gold Olympic medal would contain approximately $85,000 worth of gold, making it far more expensive to produce than a Super Bowl LIX ring.
Except for one thing.
Olympic gold medals are actually only silver medals with a thin coating of gold, so in fact the ones being handed out in Italy cost only a few thousand dollars each to produce.
As far as Willie is concerned, though, that is still a lot of money to spend honoring a bunch of guys who sweep brooms in front of curling stones.
